Cycling tour maps and guides
The Fillariopas guidebook series (2012) is a combined map and guidebook designed for cycling tourists. There are two guidebooks: one exploring areas from Helsinki to the east and the other from Helsinki to the west. The guidebook for the region west of Helsinki covers the national cycling routes from Helsinki to Turku and from Helsinki to Tampere. In addition, the guidebook lists an extensive selection of cycling routes in the Uusimaa region. The guidebook for the region east of Helsinki covers the cycling tourism from Helsinki to Jyväskylä, Mikkeli and Lappeenranta. In addition, the guidebook includes routes in the Päijänne Tavastia region, Kymenlaakso and Southern Karelia.
The Fillariopas cycling guides feature plenty of tourist sights in the countryside and small towns as well as nature sights and other interesting and different sights on the routes. These small places are gems on your cycling tour you would not think of visiting otherwise.
The guidebooks have 80 pages each, with an attached map on the scale of 1:150,000. The book and the map come in a plastic sleeve. Get your guidebook at bookshops and Karttakeskus’ online map shop.
GT maps for touring and cycling
Karttakeskus publishes the Cycling GT and Touring GT map series for cyclists, trekkers and hikers. The new GT maps are published under the Touring (Retkeily) GT name. Apart from cycling routes, Touring GT maps also include hiking, canoeing and snowmobile routes as well as plenty of tourist services, sights and other matters of interests. The maps also detail local cycling routes in addition to the national cycling routes. Unlike the Touring GT maps, Cycling GT maps do not contain any winter sport routes. Touring GT maps divide Finland into five sections, with the scale of the map of Southern Finland 1:250,000 and that of Lapland 1:400,000. Cycling GT maps divide Finland into six sections, using a scale of 1:200,000. Touring and Cycling GT maps are available at bookshops and in Karttakeskus’ online shop.
Tourist Map of the Åland Islands and Turku Archipelago 2009
The tourist and cycling map of the Åland Islands and Turku Archipelago cover all of the Åland Islands and the continental shoreline from the island of Kimitoön to Uusikaupunki on the scale of 1:200,000 (1 cm on the map = 2 km in terrain). The backside of the map contains a more detailed map of the mainland area of the Åland Islands and the neighbouring islands on the scale of 1:100,000. The maps are based on the GT road map. It also includes detailed maps of the town centres of Turku, Uusikaupunki, Naantali, Parainen and Maarianhamina.
